Donald H. Roehrig, 88, of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023 at the Laurels of Defiance.
He was born on June 18, 1934 to Olin and Veronica (Cupp) Roehrig in Defiance. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. On November 26, 1955, he married Ruperta "Ruby" Solis who preceded him in death on October 4, 2017.
Don was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was also a member of VFW #3360, life member of Eagles ##372, UAW Local #211 and the Defiance Racing Pigeon Club. He worked for over 29 years at General Motors in Defiance until his retirement. Don enjoyed bird watching and fishing. He liked to gamble and he enjoyed spending time at the casinos. He was known as a "Mr. Fix It". Don's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Don is survived by his son, Donald (Terrie Stevens) Roehrig of Kalamazoo, MI, and his three daughters; Cindy (Russ) Seip, Amy (Kirk) Kellermyer, and Tricia (Dan Baker) Ridgway, all of Defiance. Also left behind to treasurer his memory are his six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and brothers, John, Wayne, Paul, and Denny Roehrig, all of Defiance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruby, his daughter Joyce Marie Roehrig, sisters, Joyce Rita Shock and June M. Hoffman; and brothers, Gene and Lynn Roehrig.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with a Vigil Service beginning at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Jason D'Souza officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
