Donald Miller Obituary

Donald "Don" L. Miller, age 89 of Defiance, passed away Friday, June 27, 2025 at Kingsbury Place in Defiance, Ohio.  
  
Don was born on May 16, 1936 to Harold J. and Beatrice (Bowsher) Miller in Defiance. He was a 1954 graduate of Defiance High School. On July 27, 1957 he married the "Angel" of his life, June Cereghin who survives. Don proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1955 to 1957.

Don worked in the quality control department at Johns Manville in Defiance for 44 years until his retirement in 1998. He also sold Schaeffer Oil and Sea Slick. He was a life member of Defiance VFW Post #3360, AmVets #1990, and Elks Lodge #147. Don was a faithful and active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, boating, Chicago Bears football, motorcycle trips with his sons, and walks around the city. Some of his favorite times were spent with family at the cottage at Coldwater Lake since 1971. He was extremely proud of his sons and their accomplishments. Don will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
  
Don is survived by his loving wife of 68 years June Miller of Defiance, and his sons, Michael L. Miller, Jeffrey T. (Carol) Miller, and Gregory S. (Mary Jane) Miller, all of Defiance. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Benjamin (Susan), Blake, Michael (Valeri), Jacob (Madison) Miller, and Kendra (Paul) Seibert, and great-grandchildren, Madilyn, Lauran, and Lucas Miller, and Ava and Stella Seibert, his brother, David Miller of North Carolina, and sister, Judy Thrasher of Indiana. 
  
He was preceded in death by his parents.
  
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor John Schlicher officiating. Entombment will take place at Riverview Memory Gardens with military honors conducted by VFW #3360.
