Donald L. Cocke, age 85 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Sunday morning, February 5, 2023 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born on May 30, 1937 to the late Donald Paul and Audrey (Harmon) Cocke in Henry County, Ohio. On August 14, 1972 he married Sue Ellen (Fitzenrider) Cocke, who survives.
Don was a member of Xperience Church in Defiance. He worked as the warehouseman for Johns Manville for 32 years until his retirement. Don loved music, woodworking, being outdoors and around nature. He never met a stranger and could talk to anyone. Don was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his family and many good friends.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sue Cocke of Defiance. He was blessed with a blended family who he loved dearly; Denise (Deb Greear) DeTray of Defiance, Michael (Laura) Cocke of Defiance, Donald John (Valerie) Cocke of Wauseon, Marcia Deitrich of Defiance, Holley Sanders of Bryan, Daniel (Tammy) Cocke of Kentucky, Marty (Jodi) Cocke of Defiance, and Jeffrey (Amy) Cocke of Defiance. He was a proud grandfather of 18 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Mark Allen Cocke.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 2-5 and 6-8 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 10, 2023 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Pastor Andrew Tracy and Pastor Joe Silva will officiate.
