Don Goldenetz Obituary

Don E. Goldenetz Jr., age 86 of Defiance, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

He was born on November 27, 1937, to the late Donald and Clara (Sleek) Goldenetz Sr. in Defiance, Ohio. He was a 1955 graduate of Defiance High School. Don was very proud to serve in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. On October 22, 1960, he married Bonnie Vogel, who survives.

Don was a faithful member of First Church of God and was an Elder for over 30 years. He worked as a supervisor at General Motors for several years until his retirement in 2000. Don was a huge fan of the Defiance High School Bulldogs and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed bicycling, fishing, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events which kept him quite busy. Don took pride in his work and great joy in his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends.

Don was happily married to Bonnie for over 63 years. Together they have five children; Cathy (Mike) Stork of Defiance, Jeffrey (Deb) Goldenetz of Bluffton, OH, Jacqueline (Mark) Andonegui of Defiance, Donald (Carolyn) Goldenetz of Zionsville, IN, and Mark (Amy) Goldenetz of Spring Branch, TX. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren; Jacob (Karrah) Stork, Corey Stork, Kelsey (Sawyer) Goldsberry, Lauren (Mitchell) Kenoyer, Anthony Andonegui, Joseph (Courtney) Andonegui, Rebecca (Josh) Meiners and Mark Goldenetz, seven great-grandchildren; Eloise, Hunter, Wyatt, Parker, James, Macie and Lola, and two unborn great-grandchildren that even though Don will never meet, will be raised with his Christ-like values instilled in them.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Joan Kissner and Pat Burkhart.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm at First Church of God. A Memorial Service will follow at 3:30 pm.
