Dewey E. Nagel

Dewey E. Nagel, age 67 of Defiance, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025 in Defiance from injuries sustained in an auto accident.  
  
He was born on October 15, 1957 to the late Wilbert and Betty (Karnes) Nagel in Defiance, Ohio. Dewey retired from Titan Tire in Bryan, Ohio in 2022 after 46 years of dedicated service. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Eagles #372, Moose Lodge #2094 and VFW #3360. He was a huge fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds, and loved drinking Crown Royal. Dewey loved spending time his family, especially with his grandchildren. Dewey will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends. 
  
Dewey is survived by his loving companion, Sandy Hamilton of Defiance, his son, Brandon (Valli) Nagel of New Bloomfield, MO, and daughter, Erin (Makayla) McAvoy of Liberty Center, OH. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Kaylie, Korie, Zayden and Zane, brothers Michael Nagel and Wilbert "Rusty" Nagel Jr., all of Defiance, and his sisters, Susie Marihugh of Defiance and Mary (Gary) Waidelich of Archbold, OH. 
   
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Betty Nagel and brother-in-law Bob Marihugh.
  
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 2nd at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating.
