Dean C. Caryer, 77, of Sherwood, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2025 surrounded by his family at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born on December 14, 1947 to Clarence and Evelyn (Warner) Caryer in Bryan, Ohio. Dean was a 1966 graduate of Fairview High School. On February 14, 1970 he married Linda (Porath) Caryer, who survives.
Dean was a faithful member of Defiance Church of the Nazarene and Bryan Eagles #2233. He worked as a foreman at Aro for over 30 years, at Stark Truss for 10 years, and retired from Therma-Tru Corporation. He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, going to the Gospel Barn, making homemade ice cream, and spending time with his grandkids. He treasured his years spent farming with his father when he was younger. Dean truly loved his dog "Zoey". He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Dean is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Linda Caryer of Sherwood, OH, three sons, Mike (Marchetta) Caryer of Sherwood, Matt (Carmen) Caryer of Hicksville, and Mickey (Brittany) Caryer of Defiance. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jacoby and Jack Caryer of Hicksville, Skye Caryer of Farmer, Adaleigh, Asher and Aubrielle Caryer of Defiance, great-grandchildren Easton and Emmalyn Taube, his brothers Denny (Jan) Caryer and Daryl (Jeanie) Caryer, all of Bryan, and his sister Darlene (Marv) Bergman of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Evelyn Caryer, and grandson-in-law Brady Taube.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Defiance Church of the Nazarene. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the church, with Pastor Scott Williams and Pastor Terra Gorrell officiating. Dean will be laid to rest in Farmer Cemetery.
