David M. Zedaker, age 72 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born on July 16, 1950 to the late Richard and Angela (Burkmeyer) Zedaker in Defiance, Ohio. David proudly served our country in the U.S. Marines. On August 22, 1969 he married Jane Peffley who survives.
David worked at General Motors for 35 years until his retirement in 2003. He was a former member of St. John Catholic Church, AmVets #1991 and Defiance American Legion #117. He was a master at woodworking, and in his leisure time he enjoyed camping. He loved spending time with his family.
David is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Jane Zedaker of Defiance, his children, Jeremy (Jennifer) Zedaker and Joshua Zedaker, all of Defiance, and Jeffory (Regina) Zedaker of Ft. Wayne, IN, 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and his siblings, Vivian (Robert) Mann of Defiance, Mary Lou (Walter) Lucek of Kingman, AZ, Terry (Richard) King of Oakwood, and Sue Ann Antoine of Paulding.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jason Zedaker, and siblings, Esther Hill, Janet Miller, Richard Zedaker, Jr., Edwin Zedaker, Joseph Zedaker, and Al Waren Zedaker.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton St.) in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Rev. Gene Yenser officiating. Burial will take place at Rochester Cemetery in Paulding County.
