David Ysasaga, age 71 of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.
He was born in Levelland, Texas on May 9, 1953 to Arcadio and Antonia (Ramos) Ysasaga. David was a 1971 graduate of Defiance High School and worked as a mechanic at Sailgon for several years. He enjoyed fishing, and loved the challenge to try and fix things. He was a jack of all trades and an animal lover, especially cats. David loved being around his friends and family.
David is survived by his loving children, David Ysasaga, Jr., Merrisa Ysasaga and Michael Ysasaga, all of Texas, his stepdaughter Mellissa Dorsey of Texas, his brothers, Arcadio (Frances) Ysasaga, Jr., Tomas Ysasaga, Richard (Teresa) Ysasaga, and Roy (Carol) Ysasaga, and his sister Gloria Ysasaga.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arcadio and Antonia Ysasaga, nephews Raymond DeLeon and Rey DeLeon, and great niece Alsace Trevino Ramon.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with a Rosary Service at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 22nd at St. John Catholic Church, with Fr. David Cirata officiating.
