David W Mansfield

David W. Mansfield, age 65 of Defiance, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Mercy Defiance Hospital.   
  
He was born on August 2, 1956 to Russell and Babe (Osborn) Mansfield in Defiance, Ohio. On July 16, 1991 he married Kathy (Call) Mansfield, who preceded him in death on October 25, 2019. 

David worked for several years at Duerk Construction until his retirement in 2014. He was a member of Defiance Eagles #372 and Labors Union Local #500. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, working on cars, University of Michigan sports, and he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. David will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
  
David is survived by his children; Rachel Mansfield, Anthony Mansfield, and Michael Mansfield, all of Defiance, three grandchildren; Xavier Mansfield, Jasia Froelich, and Danger Ankney, three brothers; James (Theresa) Mansfield and Gregory (Lori) Mansfield, all of Holgate, and Russel Mansfield of Defiance, and a special Uncle, Danny Hill of Defiance. 
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Kathy Mansfield, a brother in infancy, and his sister, Cheryl Mansfield.
  
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Due to CDC guidelines if you are not fully vaccinated a mask is required to enter the funeral home, and our lounge area will remain closed. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.
