David Lee Iler

David Lee Iler, 65, passed away on February 12, 2025, in Defiance, Ohio. He was born on July 31, 1959, in Defiance, Ohio, and spent his life surrounded by family and friends who cherished his warmth and humor.  

David was known for his kindness, quick wit, and gift for storytelling. He had a way of bringing laughter to those around him and always had a tale to share. His love for sports was evident in his unwavering support of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. He also enjoyed collecting baseball cards and playing video games, hobbies that brought him joy throughout his life.  

Family was central to David's life. He took great care of his mother and shared a close bond with his loved ones. He is survived by his daughter, Angie; his mother Arlene Iler, sisters Chris (Jeff) Weaner of Traverse City, Michigan; Bonnie Iler of Toledo; and Nancy (Patrick) Okuley of Toledo; as well as his brothers Ken Iler of Defiance and Kurt Iler of Stryker. He will also be remembered by his nephews Lexson Iler, Benjamin Rethmel, Clint (Liana) Weaner, Brent Weaner, Ian Okuley, Isaac Okuley, and Wyatt Iler.  

He was preceded in death by his son Eric Iler, his brother Greg Iler, and his father Walter Iler.  

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Joseph Annex, 715 Jefferson Avenue in Defiance, Ohio, 43512. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 AM at the church with Fr. David Cirata officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date.
