David D. Higgins Sr.

David Daniel Higgins Sr., age 69 of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.   
  
He was born in Defiance, Ohio on September 23, 1956 to the late James and Peggy (Snider) Higgins. David was a 1974 graduate of Tinora High School. On June 23, 1976 he married Vickie Mansfield who survives.

David worked at Defiance Metal Products for several years until his retirement. He was a jack of all trades and loved small engines, electronics, trains and tractors. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
  
David is survived by his loving wife, Vickie Higgins of Defiance, his son, David (Sarah) Contreras-Higgins, Jr. of Ft. Wayne, IN, and his daughter, Amanda (Gerald) Meisner of Hudson, MI. He also leaves behind six granddaughters, brother, Kevin (Lesia) Higgins of Defiance, and sister, Sue (Jim) Stoll of Florida. 
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Higgins, and two grandsons, Warrik Carteaux and Jacob Contreras-Higgins.
  
Services for David will be held at a later date. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
