Danny L. Thompson

Danny L. "Leroy" Thompson, age 72 of Defiance, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025 surrounded by his family at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.   
  
He was born on November 7, 1952 to Lisle and Doris (Ball) Hageman in Montpelier, Ohio. On October 14, 2000 he married Penny (Matney) Thompson who survives. Leroy proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for several years at Defiance Metal Products until his retirement. He loved his motorcycle and everything related to Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and especially spending time with his family.
  
Leroy is survived by his loving wife Penny Thompson of Defiance, his father Lisle Hageman of Pioneer, OH, and his sons, Tony (Mel) Barham of Defiance, Danny A. (Tammy) Thompson of Sherwood, OH, and Richard Thompson of Monroeville, IN. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two sisters. 
  
He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Hageman, and one brother.
  
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with Military Honors at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery Veteran Section.
