Daniel Robert Okuly

Daniel Robert Okuly, 74, of Defiance, passed away Friday July 14, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Defiance.  
  
He was born on November 8, 1948 to Robert and Rita (Weaver) Okuly in Lima, Ohio. Dan was a 1967 graduate of Holgate High School.  On December 27, 1968 he married F. Dian Williams who survives.  He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1968 - 1970.  Dan worked as a Millwright for General Motors for 27 years retiring in 1994.  He also owned a trucking business for 15 years and worked at Stykemain Trucks.  Dan was a life member of  UAW Local # 211,  Defiance VFW Post # 3360, Amvets Post # 1991, and Vietnam Veterans of America.
  
Dan is survived by his loving wife Dian Okuly, Defiance; children Jeff Okuly, Ottawa, Ohio, Kim (Steve) Spangler, Defiance; four granddaughters Cassie Okuly (Eric Miller), Wauseon, Ohio Danielle (Tyler) Maag, Leipsic,Ohio Samantha Okuly, Ottawa, Ohio Allison (Evan) Morr, Ypsilanti, MI;  two great grandsons, Corbin and Camrin Miller and one on the way; brother, Alan (Dee) OkulyVirginia Beach, VA; two sisters Connie (Lee) Brown of Suffork, VA, and Terry (Darrell) Erford of Hamler, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter- in- law Hope Okuly; brother Steve Okuly; sisters Roberta Stevens, and Nancy Brinkman.

Visitation will be held Tuesday July 18, 2023 from 4:00 pm till 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio where funeral services will be held Wednesday July 19, 2023 at 11:00 am with Celebrant Deb Miller.  Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Defiance.
     
Memorials are suggested to Wounded Warriors of America or Vietnam Veterans of America.
