Daniel James Custer, 68, of Marysville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Union County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 5, 1949 to Charles Storer and Cecil Virginia (Land) Custer in Toledo, Ohio. He was the youngest of two sons. He played piano and also the trombone in school bands. He attended Defiance College and worked on his music degree. He also sang in the Singing Yellow Jackets and played in the 4-H Band. He met his wife, Sue Lindgron at a Positive Christian Singles meeting in Defiance. They married on July 22, 1978 at Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren, and were married for over 39 years.
Daniel attended Meadow Park Church of God in Columbus. He attended the School of Theology in Anderson, Indiana, and spent time in Brethren Voluntary Service in Altoona, PA and Maryland. He later attended Bowling Green State University and majored in Business Administration, with his specialty in accounting. He was employed by Engage Healthcare Business Services in Columbus, Ohio for over 30 years. He was a dedicated man of God who loved his Lord Jesus Christ. Daniel was a selfless man and was always very encouraging.
Daniel will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Sue Custer of Marysville, OH, stepsister, Mary Nofziger of Defiance, and many nieces, nephews, and other family members. He will be greatly missed on this earth, but we know he is with Jesus Christ his Lord.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Ruth Edna Custer, and brother David Charles Custer.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Almquist officiating. Burial will follow the service at Poplar Ridge Cemetery.
