Connie H. Stearns

Connie H. Stearns, age 66 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022 at The Laurels of Defiance. 
  
She was born on November 6, 1955 and was adopted by Raymond and Henrietta (Grodzicki) Arendt in Cook County, Illinois at the age of two. On January 31, 1976 she married Cpl. Robert C. Stearns, USMC, who survives. 
  
Connie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She was also a member of Family Christian Center, and a former member of Second Baptist Church in Defiance. She enjoyed bowling in a league at the Holiday Lanes and playing cards with her friends in a card club. Connie was an avid crafter and enjoyed doing needlepoint. She loved butterflies and hummingbirds, and especially her dog "Cotton".
  
Connie will be sadly missed by her loving husband Robert Stearns of Defiance, and her children; Dianna (Phillip D.) Mayer of Defiance, Theresa (Raymond) Hartzell of Arlington, OH, and Robert "Bobby" Stearns of Defiance. She also leaves behind six grandchildren; Kohal, Phillip and Demetra Mayer, Nathan, Mitchell and Lucas Hartzell, and her brother Philip (Sue) Arendt of Arizona. 
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter, Crystal Dawn Stearns.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 4th, 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Family Christian Center in Defiance. A Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 noon at the church. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
