Coletta M Sheets

Coletta M. Sheets, age 92 of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.   
  
She was born on July 2, 1929 to Francis and Anna (Siler) Sheets in Defiance, Ohio. Coletta was a faithful member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. 

Coletta owned and operated Defiance Recreation Bowling Alley. She was a co-owner in 1968 until 1972 and became the sole owner till present. She was a member of Bowling Proprietors Association and Defiance Women's Bowling Association. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Stauffer-Andrews-Mendenhall Insurance. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing cards, bus trips, and bowling tournaments, with her most previous tournament this past summer. She was a member of VFW #3360 Auxiliary and Defiance Moose Lodge #2094. Coletta was a very generous and giving person., and will be sadly missed by her family and many good friends.
  
Coletta is survived by her sister, Irene Zipfel of Defiance, and many, many nieces and nephews. 
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Joseph, Wesley, Paul and Martin Sheets, and six sisters; Rosie Gladieux, Theresa Hoffman, Agnes VanDoren, Esther Batt, Mary Kuhn and Hildonna Hesselschwardt.
  
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street), with a Rosary Service at 2:00 pm. Due to CDC guidelines, if you are not fully vaccinated a mask is required to enter the funeral home, and our lounge area will remain closed. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with Fr. Melwyn Dsouza officiating.
Burial will take place at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
