Clyde "Skip" L Skiver

Clyde L. "Skip" Skiver, age 86 of Defiance, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  
  
He was born on June 24, 1935 to Clyde and Florence (Sherer) Skiver in Defiance, Ohio. On December 14, 1963 he married June (Clarke) Skiver, who survives. Clyde proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1973, serving during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He earned a ranking of SMSgt (Senior Master Sergeant). 
 
Clyde was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Junction. He was a life member of VFW #3360 and AmVets #1991. He loved the outdoors and vegetable gardening. He was a huge baseball fan, especially the Cincinnati Reds.  Clyde was also a big fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.   He cherished his time spent with his family and his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family and many good friends. 
  
Clyde is survived by his loving wife of  58 years, June Skiver of Defiance, his daughter, Paula Skiver of Bowling Green, OH, two grandchildren; Dylan Hall and Elisabeth "Lizzy" Hall, three sisters; Gertrude (Richard) Carnahan, Starlett (Alden) Buell and Sharon Kinkade, and his brother, Emmett (Mary) Klein, Sr.  
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Michael Klein, and brother-in-law, Raymond Kinkade.
  
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel. (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A funeral service to celebrate his life will follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Due to CDC guidelines if you are not fully vaccinated a mask is required to enter the funeral home, and our lounge area will remain closed. Burial will follow the service at Potter-Klein Cemetery in Paulding County, with graveside military honors conducted by VFW #3360.
