Charles C. "Chuck" Whiteford

Charles C. Whiteford, age 63 of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. 

He was born in Chilton, Wisconsin on December 17, 1961 to Charles W. and Marilyn J. (Myers) Whiteford. Charles was a 1980 graduate of Ayersville High School.

Chuck was the life of the party and loved  making everyone around him laugh. He was a life long Cleveland Browns and Chicago Cubs fan. Nothing made him happier then when his Cubbies won the World Series in 2016. He loved working on cars, woodworking, listening to music , dancing, and spending time with his friends having a few drinks. His favorite holiday was the 4th of July. He enjoyed coaching baseball and softball for his children’s teams throughout their childhood. He loved his family and all his friends with his gigantic heart. When he walked into a room everyone knew he was going to make them laugh.

Charles is survived by his sons, Chuck Whiteford of Defiance, OH and Eric (Katie) Whiteford of Charlestown, IN; daughter, Kristin (Jason) Zimmerman of Defiance, OH; siblings, Jodie Whiteford-Mohr, John Whiteford, Patricia Wiseman-Mobley all of Defiance, Dona Ortberg, Kim Whiteford, and Sherie Tiernan; and grandkids, Melia, Ruby, Lilly, Sophia, Graham, and Theo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. Whiteford and Marilyn Wiseman, and stepfather Leo "Pete" Wiseman.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 1st at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A private burial will take place at a later date.
