Charles R. "Charlie" Miler

Charles R. "Charlie" Miler Sr., age 72 of Napoleon, Ohio, passed away on Thursday morning, January 22, 2026 at The Laurels of Defiance.   
  
He was born in Defiance, Ohio on January 30, 1953 to Harmon and Mary (Stitsel) Miler. On February 14, 2002 he married Tammy (Shackelford) Miler who survives. 
  
Charlie worked for over 25 years at General Motors until his retirement in 1997 and was a member of UAW #211. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and playing video games. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charlie will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
  
Charlie is survived by his loving wife Tammy J. Miler of Napoleon, his mother Mary Scott of Defiance, and his children, Charles R. Miler Jr. of Defiance, Jason Miler of Bryan, OH, Brandy Nally of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Hako Miler of Napoleon, OH. He also leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and his siblings, Linda (Rolland) Deming of Defiance, Luke (Lori) Miler of Continental, OH, Francine (Nathan) Rittenhouse of Hicksville, OH, Ruby Cass of Defiance, and Jenni Hauerman of Ottawa, OH. 
  
He was preceded in death by his father, Harmon Miler, Dad, Buster Scott, daughter, Michelle L. Miler, and brothers, Duke Miler and Ricky Miler.
  
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 from 4-8 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 28th at the funeral home, with Pastor Mike Hasselbring officiating. Charlie will be laid to rest in Evansport Cemetery.
