Carol E. Schuette, age 79 of Defiance, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born on May 19, 1945, to the late Eldon and Fay (Thrasher) Manon in Bryan, Ohio. Carol was a 1963 graduate of Defiance High School. On June 11, 1966, she married Frederick "Fred" Schuette, who survives. Carol was an active and faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church and volunteered with the Fellowship Board. She worked for several years as a merchandiser at KMart until her retirement in 2009. She also worked part-time at the Crescent News. Carol enjoyed baking and cake decorating and has done several beautiful wedding and graduation cakes. She loved to cook and always made way too much food! She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who treasured time spent with her family and attending the activities of her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Carol was happily married to Fred for more than 58 years. Together they have two children; Stephany (Don) Foltz and Shawn (Sara) Schuette, six grandchildren: Arianna Posey, Cassidy Posey, Ethan Foltz, Blake Schuette, Grace Schuette, and Victoria (Robert) Kennedy, and great-grandsons Landen Foltz and Robert Kennedy II. She also leaves behind nine siblings: Linda (Gene) Weidenhamer, Rick (Bev) Manon, Sandi (Mike) Sommer, Dana (Cindi) Manon, Debra Manon, Neal (Lori) Manon, Mary Wallischeck, Leslie (Bill) Frysinger, and Brian (Sharon) Manon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Fay Manon.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 16, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kurt Mews officiating. One hour of visitation will be held before the service at the church. Carol will be laid to rest at Riverview Memory Gardens.
