Bruce Allen Davenport, Sr.

Bruce Allen Davenport, Sr., 82, of Defiance, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025 at the CHP Defiance Area Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born on May 29, 1943 to Roy and Mable (Lawson) Davenport in Appalachia, Virgnia. On December 28, 1974, he married Diane Hardy, who survives.

Bruce served his country in the US Army from 1961 until 1964.  He returned home and worked at General Motors until his retirement in 2007 after 40 years of service. He then went on to drive for Exceptional Motor Cars for 11 years. 

He was a member of Family Christian Center, led their Bible Study group, and mentored many.  Bruce was a former Elder at Christ Community Church. Bruce was an avid cyclist and also enjoyed riding his motorcycle.  He was a nature lover and enjoyed camping with the family.  He was known as a handyman and a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife Diane; his children Trina Davenport of Acworth, GA; Bruce Davenport, Jr. of Brooks, KY; Kirk (Sheri) Davenport of Medina, OH; and Annie (Shane) Beauprez of Defiance. He leaves his 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren to cherish his memory.  Also surviving are his siblings, Sherry (Richard) Miller of Defiance, Sandra Davenport of Bryan and Sharon Scheirer of Greenwood, SC. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Shirley Davenport, Roy "Sonny" Davenport, Della Louise Davenport, Gary Davenport, and Rodger Davenport.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 16, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Family Christian Center, 1834 East Second St, Defiance, Ohio. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, 11:00 am also at the Family Christian Center with Pastor Tim Tracy and Pastor Andy Tracy officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the CHP Hospice or Family Christian Center.
