Brenda M. (Wheat) Clossett

Brenda M. Closset, age 72 of Defiance, passed away on Friday morning, October 24, 2025 at home with her loved ones by her side.  
  
She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on April 2, 1953 to the late Joseph and Zerelda (Dages) Wheat. On June 12, 2013 she married Lindy A. Closset who preceded her in death on August 8, 2023. 
  
Brenda proudly earned her Master's degree and loved her career as a teacher for over 30 years. She taught at Maumee Youth Center, Stryker, West Unity, Napoleon, and Laughlin, Nevada School Systems. She loved watching her grandchildren and attending their sporting events. In her leisure time she enjoyed bingo, ballroom dancing, sore thumb games, and jigsaw puzzles.
  
Brenda is survived by her daughter, Abby (Louie) Lorenzen of Defiance, her grandchildren, Lyndsi (Joe Alejo) Lorenzen, Tate Sharp and Logan Lorenzen, her sisters, Deborah (Jim) Waters, Patty McGinty, and Dana (Matt) Eckert, and many extended family members. 
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Lindy Closset. 

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Riverside Cemetery. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
