Brenda Ann Clady, age 69, of Defiance, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, January 22, 2026.
She was born in Defiance, Ohio, on November 9, 1956, to the late Eugene Porter and Opal (Williams) Greiner. Brenda was a 1975 graduate of Defiance High School.
Brenda was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she lovingly taught Sunday school and catechism classes throughout her children’s early years. She worked at John’s Manville for 30 plus years, retiring in 2021. She was a member of the VFW and Eagles for many years. Brenda loved her children and grandchildren. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and being with her beloved dog, Duke. She was a wonderful woman with a bright, unforgettable smile, Brenda will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her stepmother, Nancy Porter of Defiance; her children, Karie (Chad) Clady of Fort Wayne, IN, Kristan (Jeremy) Hughes of Napoleon, and Tyler (Katie) Clady of Fort Wayne, IN; her grandchildren, Landon, Brody, Eloise, Harper, Maverick, Audrey, Kaleb, Dawson, and Bishop; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Tom (Greta) Porter; and nephews, Bill (Ashlee) Fillman, Ben (Megan) Fillman, and Brian (Brittany) Porter.
In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her brother, Rick Porter, and her grandson, Graham Hughes.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 2-8 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 29th at St. Mary Catholic Church. Brenda will be laid to rest in Riverview Memory Gardens.
