Betty J. "Jeannie" Ham, 79, of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born on July 5, 1945 to Bernard and Elizabeth (Hutchison) Willeman in Wauseon, Ohio.
Jeannie attended nurse's training at the Toledo Hospital. Her nursing career spanned over 30 years retiring from Promedica. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Defiance. She was an active participant of the Defiance Senior Center. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to garage sales, shopping and having lunch with friends. Jeannie enjoyed spending time with her pets and working outside. But more than anything she loved the Lord and serving others.
Jeannie is survived by her sons, Todd (Tara) Ham of Monclova, Ohio and Troy (Lauren) Ham, of Kennesaw, GA. She also leaves behind her grandchildren which she loved more than life itself, Connor, Katelyn (Kyle), Madelyn (Ethan), Devin (Brittany), and Ethan. Jeannie is also survived by her siblings, Tom (Cheryl) Willeman and Margaret Bashor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Terry Willeman.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, 1399 Jefferson Avenue in Defiance. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at the church with Pastor Ron Monteith officiating, with a luncheon to follow. Jeannie will be laid to rest with a private graveside service at Winameg Cemetery.
