Betty Jane Schackow

Betty Jane Schackow, age 92, of Defiance, passed away on  January 6, 2023 at Mercy Defiance Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
  
She was born on March 7, 1930 to Ralph and Irma (Koerber) Osborn in Defiance. On December 10, 1949 she married Ernest Schackow and he preceded her in death in November of 1991. Betty lived alone and managed her own home for 32 years in Ayersville and was a member of Ayersville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping, traveling, sewing, playing cards, knitting, crocheting and fishing. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty will be missed by many family members and friends.
 
Betty  is survived by her loving children, Debbie (Marty) Kennedy, Tom (Connie) Schackow and Judy (Smith) Hurley, 8 grandchildren, Tyler (Melinda) Kennedy, Melissa (Matt) Stark, Nathan Schackow, Danielle Hurley, Abigail Hurley, Mindy (Scott) Williams, Ashley (Jared) Ensign and Sara (Ricky) Taylor, a step-grandson, Jason Hurley, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 
  
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest; son, Bruce Schackow; brothers, Bob and Don Osborn; and sisters, Glenna Peffley, Thelma Flory, Margaret Kruse and Barb Eintnear.
  
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Ayersville United Methodist Church. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00pm with Rev. Mo Dunn officiating.
     
Burial will take place in the Ayersville Cemetery.
