Betty Louise Lewis, age 83, of Defiance, sadly passed away at The Laurels of Defiance on Saturday, March 4, 2023 after finishing the battle of COPD and the evil Dementia. Rest in peace you beautiful soul.
Betty was born on January 5, 1940 in Twin City, Idaho to the late James and Eunice Killion. She was married to Lawrence Pearl Lewis from 1956 - 1975 and together they had five children.
She had a fun, loving personality,she enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, loved to dance, loved her jewelry and collecting angels, but most of all she loved her family. Family always came first. Betty Louise Lewis: a passionate, loving mother, hard-working, strong willed, always caring and helping others in need. Besides her family many called her Mom, Grandma Betty or Betty Boop. She had a big heart and will be greatly missed,
She is survived by her children, Brenda (Pat) Dotson of Defiance, Cindy (Dave) Gustwiller of Archbold, Lawrence Darrell Lewis of Defiance and Kenneth Ray (Cannina) Lewis of Defiance, her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Lewis of Holgate, her brother Stanley Joe Killion of California, her sister Christine Morang of Nevada, 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, including two on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, former spouse Lawrence Pearl Lewis, sister Francis Martinez, brother James Killion and her loving son, Michael Pearl Lewis which she will be laid to reside beside at Riverside Cemetery.
A special thank you to the staff at The Laurels and Hospice for the care of Betty in her final days.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023, 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home - Lawson Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton St.).
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023, 11:00 am at the Schaffer Funeral Home South.
Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
