Baldemar L. Bejarano, age 81 of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Mercy Defiance Hospital.
He was born on April 11, 1943 to Joaquin and Julia (Limon) Bejarano in Brownsville, Texas. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969. On July 9, 1966 he married Guadalupe Pina, who survives.
Baldemar was a faithful member of St, Mary Catholic Church, AmVets #1991, Knights of Columbus #1039, UAW Local #211, and was past president and active member of the Hispanic Awareness Organization. He worked for 39 years as a Millwright at General Motors until his retirement in 2004. Baldemar was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who treasured his time spent with family, especially with his grandchildren. He enjoyed coaching softball for DAV in the 1980's, and he loved listening to Conjunto music. He will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends.
Baldemar is survived by his loving wife Guadalupe Bejarano of Defiance, his children, Renee (Brent) Bejarano-Hoblet of Van Wert, Ohio, Yolanda Bejarano-Hernandez of Delphos, and Estevan Bejarano of Defiance, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his sister, Marie Barrera of Fremont, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Raul and Santiago Bejarano.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am on Monday, September 23rd at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Fr. David Cirata officiating. Baldemar will be laid to rest at Riverview Memory Gardens.
