Arthur Ray Miller

Arthur Ray "Sonny" Miller, age 88 of Defiance, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.   
  
He was born on December 19, 1936 to the late Roy and Margaret (Smith) Miller in Defiance, Ohio. Art proudly served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1954-1957. On December 24, 1977 he married Geraldine "Gerri" Keene, who survives. 
  
He was a member of Defiance Eagles #372, and worked for 41 years at Johns Manville until his retirement in 1999. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns football, and NASCAR. In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
  
Art is survived by his loving wife Gerri, nine children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his brother Butch (Mary) Schilt, and sisters Glenda Kohorst and Linda Shelton. 
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Tammy Miller, and four sisters.
  
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Art will be laid to rest at Riverview Memory Gardens, with military honors conducted by VFW #3360.
