Anthony "Tony" W. Krueger

Anthony William"Tony" Krueger, age 56, of Greenville, Ohio and previously of Chicago, IL, passed away on  January 5, 2023 at his residence. 
  
He was born on July 29, 1966 to William and Anita (Nordhaus) Krueger in Defiance, Ohio. Tony was raised in a large Catholic family with six siblings. He was engaged to be married to Laura Schiavone. Tony was a 1985 graduate of Tinora High School. Following high school he was a member of the Army National Guard and attended Bowling Green State University for a short time. Tony took great pride in his work as a carpenter for which he was masterfully skilled, having most recently worked for Design a Deck. He also served as a Guest Services Usher at the University of Notre Dame during football and hockey season. There, he was able to combine his love for the Fighting Irish and interacting with people. He volunteered for Cook County Forest Preserve Police, patrolling the trails around Cook County, Illinois. He loved listening to music and attending live music events. 

Prior to the onset on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), in which the impact of his symptoms stripped him of the ability to continue to work and enjoy his outdoor hobbies, he was very active and lived life to the fullest. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, including hiking, camping and cycling. He stayed strong until the end. Throughout his illness, Tony was surrounded by his father, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, God children, and many friends and family.

Anthony is survived by his father William Krueger of Defiance, sons, Sean Krueger and Ryan (Jonessa) Krueger, both of WI, brothers, Alex (Rona) Krueger of Greenville, OH, Thad Krueger of Defiance, Steve Krueger (Leslie) of PA, sister, Karla (Gregory) Keiffer of Risingsun, OH, and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces.
  
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anita Krueger, sister, Jennifer Krueger and brother, Christopher Krueger.
  
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A memorial service will take place immediately following at 3:00 pm, with Father George Wenzinger officiating. Interment will take place at Riverview Memory Gardens at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the ALS Association, or to Schaffer Funeral Home to help with expenses.
