William F Maass, 82, of Defiance, passed away on  December 27, 2012 at the Glenn Park of Defiance .

He was born on May 19, 1930 to Alvin and Emma  (Behrens) Maass at Defiance, OH.  William worked at Johns Manville in Defiance. On  June 22, 1958 he married Mary Ann Hammon who precede him in death on November 2, 2004.

He was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church and was a US Army Veteran of WW II.

William is survived by his son, Mark (Cheryl) Maass of Goodyear, AZ, daughter, Lori (Charles) Thompson of McComb, OH, sister, Thelma (Roger) Duerk of Defiance, OH, brother, Alvin (Dorothy) Maass of Birmingham, MI, and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by father, Alvin Maass, mother, Emma Behrens, wife, Mary Ann Hammon and two sisters Helen Bowers & Lois Ann Jackson.

Visitation will be held  at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio on Sunday, December 30 from 2-6 p.m. and at St. Paul Lutheran Church one hour prior to the services.

Funeral services will be held on Monday December 31 at 10:00 am with Rev. David Brobston officiating.

Burial will take place in Riverview Memory Gardens with military graveside rites by the Defiance VFW Post 3360.
