William E. Lloyd, age 92, of Defiance, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026 surrounded by his family at his home.

He was born on January 22, 1934 to Lot and Laura (Edwards) Lloyd in Defiance, Ohio. He was a 1953 graduate of Ayersville High School. William served his country for two years in the United States Army. He married Dorothy Fritz, who preceded him.

William was a dedicated, life-long farmer. He thoroughly enjoyed caring for his livestock, hunting, fishing, and gardening. William loved to go on family vacations all across the country with his wife and children. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

William is survived by his children, Stephanie Lloyd, Denise (Charles) Berner and Matthew Lloyd, all of Defiance, grandsons, Gavin, Jacob, Owen and Eli Berner and granddaughter, Matilyn Lloyd.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy Lloyd, sisters, Irene Birchmeier, Marjorie Siler and Mable Lloyd, and brothers, Harlan, John, Leonard, Gerald, Dale, Irvin and Lester Lloyd.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson-Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton St.) in Defiance. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:30 AM. William will be laid to rest in Ice Cemetery.
