William Jurcevich, age 80 of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born on August 20, 1943 to the late Adam and Ella Dora (Settlemier) Jurcevich in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. William proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On July 20, 1968 he married Patricia Roberts, who survives. William was a faithful member of First Church of God in Defiance, and UAW #211. He worked at General Motors for several years until his retirement in 2006. He truly loved dogs and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In his leisure time he loved to work on cars, put puzzles together, and sit on his deck and wave to everyone passing by. William was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who treasured time spent with family. William is survived by his loving wife Patricia Jurcevich of Defiance, daughter, Amy Behringer of Painesville Twp., OH, son, William (Amy) Jurcevich of Defiance, four grandchildren; Kylee Behringer, Mallory (Kaleb) Goshia, Jocelyn and Viktor Jurcevich, his sister, Eileen Dietz of Bristol, IN, and sister-in-law, Marilyn Jurcevich. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Macie Behringer, brothers, Robert and James Jurcevich, and brother-in-law, Robert Dietz. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at First Church of God in Defiance. A Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 noon at the church, with Rev. Larry Kennedy officiating. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements. Memorials are suggested to CHP Defiance Area Hospice.
