William 'Bill' H. Fillman William 'Bill' H. Fillman, 93, of Defiance, passed away Thursday, March 3rd, 2016 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born in Defiance, Ohio on February 11, 1923, he was the son of the late Grover and Lulu May (Telshaw) Fillman. Bill was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church at the Bend. He served in the U.S. Navy in WW II. He married Monica (Justinger) Fillman who died January 24, 2008. Bill had worked as a machinist at G.M. Powertrain for 20 years and also had worked at the Compo Corporation for 20 years. He was a life member of Defiance VFW Post # 3360, the Defiance Eagles and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bill loved woodworking, camping and fishing. Bill will be missed by his son: Patrick (Martha) Fillman of Sherwood, daughter in laws; Greta (Tom) Porter of Defiance and Helene Fillman of Thermopolis, Wyoming. 9 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Monica, sons: Rev. Allan Fillman, Mike 'Slim' Fillman, Bill Fillman, sisters: Wilma Molnar, Betty Wendell, Murial Volkert, brothers; Charlie Fillman and James Fillman who died in infancy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Isidore Catholic Church at The Bend, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 8th, with Father Robert Kill officiating. Visitation is Monday 2-8 p.m. at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home 1753 S. Clinton St. Defiance and Tuesday 10-11 a.m. at St. Isidore Catholic Church at The Bend. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday at Lawson-Roessner. Burial will be in Delaware Bend Cemetery, the church cemetery, where VFW Post # 3360 will conduct honorary military graveside rites.
