William R. Barnett, 95, of Melbourne, Florida,  passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at his home in Florida. He was born on December 3, 1922 to Earl and Alphus (Keenan) Barnett in Champaign, IL. On June 6, 1947 he married Sara Ann (Max) Barnett, who resides in Florida. William proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He is retired from Rockwell International, where he worked as a Personnel manager. William is survived by his loving wife of  70 years, Sara Ann Barnett, son, Thomas W. Barnett of Melbourne, FL, son-in-law, Gary Schroeder of Leipsic, OH, and sister, Vivian Jean Wagner of Defiance. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Ann Barnett. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 at the funeral home, with Rev. Matthew Schiemann officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery, with graveside military honors.
