Wayne T. Wallace, 98, of Defiance, passed away on December 11, 2014 at the GlennPark Assisted Living Facility of Defiance, Ohio.
He was born on November 13, 1916 to James Harley and Annie Eve (Kirk) Wallace in Antwerp, OH. On he married Mildred E. Robertson in 1936 who preceded him in death in 1996.
He served in the US Navy in the Southwest Pacific in 1944 through 1946. Wayne was employed at the former SK Hand Tool factory as a metal polisher where he was a union steward retiring in 1979 after 32 years of service. He was a life member of the Defiance VFW Post 3360, and a life member of the American Legion Post 252, Hamler, Ohio. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge 2094, National Association of CCC Alumni, National Landing Ship Medium Association, American Society of Philatelic Pages and Panels, the International Association of Machinist, and the AARP
Wayne is survived by his sons, Charles Wallace of RI, Glen A (Brenda Armentrout) Wallace of Angola, IN ,and Philip A (Julie) Wallace of Gates, OR,. Many grand, great grand, & great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mildred E Wallace, sons, James H. and Wayne H. Wallace, brothers, James H. and Glenn A. Wallace, daughter, Joan E. Wallace, granddaughter, Trisha Wallace.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 22, 2014, 9:00 am - 11:00 am at the Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014, at 11:00 am at the Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio, with Rev. David Brobston, officiating. Members of the Defiance VFW Post 3360 will accord military honors immediately following at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
