Waneta R. (Aston) Schalk, 53, of Junction, Ohio died Saturday afternoon, November 2, 2013 in her home, under hospice care. She was born May 2, 1960 in Miami, Florida. On May 24, 1991 she married Michael Schalk who survives. She is also survived by her mother Waneta Aston, brother Frederick Aston and sister Audrey Bamburger all of the state of Florida. She was preceded in death by her father Frederick Aston and her grandparents. Waneta was a United States Navy Veteran serving on a submarine from 1980 -1983. She enjoyed racing pigeons, eagles, her pet animals and gardening. She had worked at Spartech in Paulding, Ohio. She was a member of the Defiance Eagles and the Defiance Moose. Visitation is 6-8 Tuesday night, November 5, at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home 1753 S. Clinton St. Defiance. AMVETS Post 1991 services will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial with Veterans Military Rites will be conducted in Miami, Florida at a later date. Suggested memorials are to the Defiance County Humane Society.
