Wanda L. Hicks, 58, of Paulding, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Paulding County Hospital. She was born on October 31, 1963 to Richard and Onita (Mason) Smith in Van Wert, Ohio. Wanda was a faithful member of The Rock Church. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, music, dream books, and loved the beach. Wanda was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her greatest love was her children, and she treasured her time spent with her family. Wanda is survived by her mother, Onita Hagerman, and her children; Jamie (Samantha) Hicks of Baytown, TX,  Laura (Tyler) Fox of Defiance, and Nicole (Chris Mullins) Hicks of Melrose, OH. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and her siblings; Peggy (Jim) Sheperd of Lima, OH,  Michael (Becky) Smith of Defiance, Brenda (Curt) Stephens of Florida, William (Ann) Steffes of Cecil, OH, and Mary Ann Steffes of Defiance, and her significant other, Kelly Smith. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Smith, her son, Eric Hicks, and her daughter, Nakita Hicks. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton St.) in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Pastor Bobby Branham officiating. Burial will follow the service at Middle Creek Cemetery in Grover Hill, Ohio.
