Walter R. Sholl Walter R. Sholl, 83, of Defiance, passed away Monday, January 30th, 2017 at his home. He was born in Oakwood, OH on February 19, 1933, he was the son of the late Theodore A. and Estella A. (Link) Sholl. Walter was a member of St. John Catholic Church and served in the Army from 1953 -1955, serving in Germany. He was the husband of Martha (Dieringer) Sholl. They were married April 23, 1960. He was employed as an electrician at Phillips Co. in Ottawa from 1956 -1993. He also worked for Arps Hardware from 1967 - 2009. He was a member of VFW Post # 3360. Walter enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, bowling, golfing, attending auctions. playing euchre and pinochle with his family and solving crossword puzzles. Walter will be missed by his wife of 56 years, Martha, daughters: Teresa (Jeff) Maag of Defiance, Christine (Brad) Bailey of Defiance, sons: Duane (Denise) Sholl of Napoleon, Roger Sholl of Wauseon, Jeff Sholl of Defiance, Brian Sholl of Auburn, IN sister: Catherine Cline brothers: Leo (Janet) Sholl, Vincent (Shirley) Sholl He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Jennifer (Mark) Ort, Nick (Maggie) Maag, Michelle Maag, Jared Sholl, Derek Sholl, Sabrina Bailey, Makennna Sholl and 3 great grandchildren: Zander Ort, Cecilia Maag and Daphne Maag. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles and his wife Jean Sholl, brothers Jerry Sholl and Joe Sholl, brother in law Richard Cline. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 2nd, with Father Eric Mueller officiating. Visitation for Walter will be Wednesday 2-8 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home with a Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be Thursday 10-11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Riverview Memory Gardens with honorary miltary services. Suggested memorials are to St. John Catholic Church or Donor's Choice .
