Virginia L. Ruyle, 89, of Defiance, died peacefully at her home, Monday, June 24, 2013.  She was born March 7, 1924, in Huntington, IN to J. Edward & Dessie (Smith) Snyder.  She graduated from Huntington High School in 1942.  Virginia married C. Robert Ruyle on April 28, 1946.  Bob died in 1996 shortly after they celebrated their golden anniversary.

Virginia is survived by her four children, Steve (Terri) Ruyle of Defiance, Philip (Renee) Ruyle of Whitehouse, Lynne (John) Humkey of Midway, KY and Bobbie (Mike) Ruyle Malady of Tempe, AZ.  Her sister, Mary Snyder of Huntington, IN survives, along with 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 4 nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister Imogene Kaylor.

Virginia was employed by Metropolitan Bank of Lima for many years before relocating to Defiance in 1995.  For over 25 years, Virginia was a volunteer with the Auxiliary, first at Lima Memorial Hospital and beginning in 1997 with Defiance Regional Hospital.  Virginia was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Church Women United and the 13 Club of Defiance.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 28, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance.  Funeral services for Virginia will be at the funeral home at 1:00pm Saturday with Rev. Joe Graves officiating.  Burial will be beside her sailor, at Riverside Cemetery, Veterans' Memorial section.

Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Women or to Defiance Regional Medical Hospital Auxiliary.
