Virginia Rose Wilhelm, 87, of Defiance,  passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at her daughter's home in Defiance.

She was born on January 11, 1930 to Joseph and Ruth (Kleinhenn) Delarber in Defiance. On June 30, 1951 she married Cletus F. "Mike"  Wilhelm, who preceded her in death on October 2, 2004.

Virginia was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Noodle Club and Prayer Chain. Virginia was a woman of great faith. She was a very caring and loving mother to her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook, and loved nature and gardening. She enjoyed music, dancing, and playing the guitar and singing at local nursing homes. Virginia took care of her grandchildren, and spending time with her family was always a priority.

Virginia will be sadly missed by her daughters, Janet (Dean) Bachelor of Celina, Karen (Don) Sauber of Defiance, Barbara Gregory of Defiance, Rita (David) Baker of Tipp City, OH, Diane Wilhelm of Defiance, Sandy (Tom) Davis of Defiance, 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sisters, Mary Crist of Bryan, Frances Mack of  Defiance, and brother, Lawrence Delarber of Troy, OH.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Cletus F. Wilhelm, sisters, Gertrude Hoschak, Anna Cavanaugh, and Madonna Robbins, brothers, Robert Delarber, Paul Delarber, and Daniel Delarber, and infant sister Margaret Delarber.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation on Thursday at 12:00 noon at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Father Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
