Violet I. Chapman, age 71 of Defiance, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022 at her residence in Defiance. She was born on July 16, 1951 to the late Auddie and Marvel (Boggs) Robbins in Defiance, Ohio. On April 6, 1968 she married James L. Chapman, who preceded her in death on February 12, 2012.

Violet was a member of Defiance Moose Lodge #2094, Eagles #372, VFW #3360 Auxiliary, and AmVets #1991 Auxiliary. She worked for 24 years at Campbell's Soup Company in Napoleon until her retirement. She enjoyed gambling, play bingo and cards, dancing and singing. Violet treasured her time spent with family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Violet will be sadly missed by her daughters, Jamie Good and Audrey (Sean) Sheffler, her son, Brandon (Julie) Chapman, all of Defiance, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brothers, Frank, Gene and Paul Robbins, her sisters, Evelyn (Harold) Cook, Ella Mae (Duane) Luderman, and Glory Aldrich, and her special cousin, Roger Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James L. Chapman, her daughter, Linzey Chapman, and sisters, Renn Hartman and Martha Theis. Visitation will be held onThursday, September 22, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 pm and  6:00-8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Pastor Bert Arnet officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.
