Viola M Hobbs Viola M. Smith Hobbs, 70, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 11th, 2017 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born in Tularosa, New Mexico on May 2, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Clay L. and Alice Rosetta (Gililland) Smith. On March 11, 1966 she married Michael W. Hobbs who survives. Viola and her husband split time living near their daughters near Defiance, Ohio and Mesquite, Texas. Viola was a member of the Foresters Camping Club. She had a Bachelors Degree in Marketing, retired from Alcoa as a purchasing agent and had also worked in sales. She attended the Gateway Baptist Church and had a love of Christ. She had consistent beliefs in what she stood for. Viola enjoyed classic hymns, country music, painting, embossing leather and doting on her grandchildren. Viola was a vibrant woman who loved the Lord with her whole being She will be missed by Mike, her husband of 51 years, daughters: Janis Richardson of Mesquite, Texas, Sheryl (Jim) Borgelt of Defiance and 5 grandchildren: Elise Richardson, Kaitlyn Borgelt, Elizabeth Borgelt, Rebecca Borgelt and Joseph Borgelt. She always looked forward to traveling back and forth from Texas to Ohio to see her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Richard Smith, sisters: Lucy Sauerman and Dorothy Hess. Services will be at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, Defiance, OH at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 16th, with Rev. Tommy Briggs officiating. Visitation is Thursday 9-11 am prior to the service at Lawson-Roessner . Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Defiance. Suggested memorials are to the donor's choice.
