Victor B. Steffel Victor B. Steffel, age 94, of Defiance, Oh , passed away at 8:30 A:M , Sunday, October 12th, 2008 at Harborside of Bryan. Vic was born in Defiance County, Ohio on January 27, 1914, he was the son of the late George A. and Elizabeth T. (Pittner) Steffel He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Defiance. On Sept. 27, 1938 he married Anna A. (Siler) Steffel who died Nov. 16, 1986. He worked as a Superintendent at the Zeller Co. in Defiance for for 34 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Defiance Amateur Radio Club and was a licensed commercial pilot since 1936, He was a graduate of St. John Commercial School. Surviving are two Sons: Ronald (Lynn) Steffel of Inverness, Florida and James (Jayne) J. Steffel of Bryan, Oh. a Sister: Armella Schmidt of Defiance, Oh He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Richard, a brother Herman Steffel and his wife. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Catholic Church, at 10:00 A:M on Saturday, October 18th, with Father Todd Dominique officiating. Friends are invited to call Friday 2-9 at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home 1753 S. Clinton St. Defiance, where there will be a 7:00 P:M Vigil Service on Friday. Interment is at Riverside Cemetery in Defiance. Suggested memorials are to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or Hospice-the Caring Way of Defiance.
