Victor Albert Gerken, 82, of Defiance passed away on Friday January 27, 2017 at his residence.

He was born on March 4, 1934 to Albert and Anna (Behnfeldt) Gerken in Toledo. On May 29, 1960 he married Mildred Wachtmann and she survives.

Vic attended Peace Lutheran Church, Defiance.  He was a retired farmer; he also worked for the Defiance Hospital as a boiler operator and later in the maintenance department retiring in 2002.  Vic was a kind and gentle man who loved the Lord and had no enemies.

Victor is survived by his loving wife Mildred Gerken of Defiance, sons, Brent (Kelly) Gerken of Defiance, Thomas (Cheryl) Gerken of Toledo, Michael (Tracy) Gerken of Defiance, David (Desiree) Gerken of Minneapolis, and 8 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held Monday January 30, 2017 from 2-8 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance and one hour prior to services at the church.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 31, 2017 at 11 am at Peace Lutheran Church, 8525 St.Rt. 66 Defiance, with Pastor Gary Benson officiating.  Entombment will follow at  Riverview Memory Gardens.
