Obituary

Vernon M Dingus, 66, of Defiance, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 in Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz, OH.

He was born on September 30, 1946 to Willard and Lucille (Porter) Dingus in Kingsport, TN.

Vernon was owner/operator of Oxbow Towing for 23 years where their motto was "Trust us we wear clean underwear."  He was a life member of the Moose and a member of the Masonic Lodge both of Defiance.  Vernon enjoyed woodworking, fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his loving spouse of 47 years, Carol, son, Donald Dingus of Paulding, daughters, Teresa (John) Auer of Defiance, Tesla Dingus of Defiance,  Melissa (Chris Wick) Grodi of Toledo,  Holly (Josh) Osborne of WV, grandchildren, Rachel, Jacob, Brendan, Devin, Ethyn, Thomas, Kadence, Victoria, Zachary, Shawn, Abieayle, Lillian, and a sister, Shirley Salyer of Nickelsville, VA.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Valerie, granddaughter, Candice, and an infant brother.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2013 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio. Masonic service will be at 7:00pm.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 12:00 pm at the Schaffer Funeral  Home, Defiance, with Pastor Robert Cox officiating.

Burial will take place in Riverview Memory Gardens.

Memorials are suggested to the Chairty of the donor's choice.
