Obituary

Vern Glenn Hahn, 79, of Defiance, passed away on  Friday, November 22, 2013 at the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.

He was born on July 29, 1934 to Alva and Lorena (Scheele) Hahn in Deshler.  On January 29, 1961 he married Linda L. (Okuly) Hahn and she survives.

Vern was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and a life member of the Amvets.  He was a Florida High School graduate. Vern honorably served his country in the US Army. He worked at General Motors 9 1/2 years, Dinner Bell  29 1/2 years and at Olsons.  Vern was a work-a-holic, a craftsman of sorts.  He loved cutting and splitting wood, fishing, hunting, trapping, and leatherworking    He was known for his many unique bird houses.

Vern is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda,  son, Jeffery (Paula) Hahn of Defiance, daughters, Tracy (Ben) Keck of Defiance,  Stacy (Matt) Coressel of Defiance,  6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, brother, Ordis (Phyllis) Hahn of Defiance  and a sister, Waunita Badenhop of Defiance.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joy Bongioni.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2013 at Schaffer Funeral Home and  from 10-11 a.m. at the church on Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m, Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at  St. John Lutheran Church, Defiance, with Rev. Joshua Schmidt officiating.  Entombment will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance.

The family request memorials be made to the Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center or to a charity of the donor's choice.
