Vera  May Thompson, 85, of Sherwood, passed away on  Monday, April 28, 2014 at her  residence.

She was born on May 13, 1928 to Howard and Esther Bauer.  She married Charles Thompson and he passed away in 1995.

Vera was a member of  First Evangelical Methodist Church and a graduate of Defiance High School.

She is survived by her son, Rick (Sue) Thompson of Sherwood, daughter, Susan (Dan) Egler of Defiance, 11 grandchildren  & 32 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles, siblings, Linda Ray & Kenneth Thompson.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Schaffer Funeral Home,  Defiance.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at the funeral home with Randy  Myers officiating.  Burial will follow in Sherwood Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be made to the CHP Defiance Hospice, Home Away From Home.
