Umberto A. DiTommaso, 72, of Defiance, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born in Ari, Italy on December 14, 1946 to Luigi and Caremela (Parca) DiTommaso. On July 12, 1979 he married KayC Lyon. Umberto worked as a Conductor for Norfolk Southern Rail Road for 33 years until his retirement in 2009.  He played in the Defiance Soccer League and enjoyed gardening, his dogs, hunting for Indian arrow heads, cooking, and spending time with his loving family. Umberto loved all sports, especially soccer. Umberto is survived by his loving spouse of 39 years, KayC DiTommaso of Defiance, sons, Kristopher (Andrea) DiTommaso of Mt. Zion, IL, Antonio (Jacqueline) DiTommaso of Rosemount, MN, and Andrea DiTommaso of Defiance, 8 grandchildren; Kamille, Aidan, D' Angelo, Alessandro, Ayla, Adriel, Giovanni, and Daniel, a brother, Gino DiTommaso of Ari, Italy, and sisters, Connie Buono of Phoenix, AZ and Rita DiTommaso of Ari, Italy. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019  from 1:00 pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 2:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating.
