Tom D. Zellers, Sr., 72, of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 10, 2018 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born on August 11, 1946 to Norman and Madonna (Davis) Zellers in Napoleon, Ohio.  Tom proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was married to Bonnie (Browns) Zellers, who preceded him in death on January 21, 2000. On August 3, 2001 he married Jeanne (Leever) Zellers, who resides in Defiance. Tom worked at General Motors for over 37 years until his retirement in 2005. He was a member of Defiance Eagles #372, AMVETS #1991, Moose Lodge #2094, and was a life member of VFW #3360 and Elks Lodge #147. He was an avid golfer, and was ranked 10th in the world as a pool player in his division. Tom will be greatly missed by his loving wife Jeanne of Defiance, sons, Tommy Zellers Jr. (Breana Setliff) of Columbus, OH, Todd (Deb) Zellers of Greencastle, IN, stepsons, David Marroquin (Jamyee Dingman) of Garland, TX, and Daniel Marroquin of Defiance, stepdaughter, Angie Leever (Kurt Kaufman) of Ottawa, grandchildren Anna and Ben Zellers, step-grandchildren, Drake, Drew, and Jarrett Jimenez, Audrey and Kieran Marroquin, and his sister, Sharon (John) Sterner of Lake City, Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Zellers, brother, Terry Zellers, sister, Jan Sworden, and step-granddaughter, Kamryn Faith Marroquin. Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm  on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, and for one hour prior to the service on Friday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 14th at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Fr. John Stites officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery, with military rites accorded by VFW #3360. Memorials are suggested to The ALS Association, or CHP Defiance Area Hospice Center.
