Obituary

Timothy C. Connolly, 85 , of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at  CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born on September 4, 1931 to Carl and Geraldine (McClure) Connolly in Toledo, Ohio.  Timothy served our country in the U.S.Army as a Motor Pool Dispatcher during the Korean War. On September 1, 1979 he married Gloria (Blosser) Connolly, who resides in Defiance.

Tim was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Defiance. He worked as a Security Sergeant at General Motors in Defiance for over 33 years, retiring in 1987. His favorite job after retirement was working at Meijer, bossing around his granddaughters. He was the first person hired when it opened in Defiance.  He was a life  member of  VFW Post #3360, and the Bert G. Taylor American Legion in Napoleon. He enjoyed cutting firewood, and tore down over  50 barns in the area. Timothy loved his family and grandchildren dearly.

Tim will be sadly missed by loving spouse of 37 years, Gloria Connolly of Defiance, son Timothy K. (Lisa) Connolly of Heltonville, Indiana, daughters Mary Swatek of Defiance, Patricia (Gary) Parr of Toledo, Amy (Mike) Haskins of Cincinnati,  Angela (Tom) Collins of Stryker,  and LeAnn (Dan) Levy of Defiance, 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and one on the way, brother Terry (Lorraine) Connolly of Delphos, sister Carol McCormick of Findlay, many nieces and nephews, and will greatly missed by his two dogs and one cat.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Geraldine and Carl Connolly, a daughter in infancy, Susan Marie Connolly, son-in-law  Ed "Scotty" Swatek, brother-in-law Mike McCormick, and his dog, Ted D. Bear.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, and for one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Defiance, with Rev. Richard Rentner officiating.  Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, with Graveside Military Rites accorded by VFW Post #3360.
